"[The lives of venerated saints]serve as guiding lights for the soul aspiring toward perfection. Saints ... are the exemplary models of what we may be. The presence of saints among us provides a living testimony to the efficacy of the Gospel." - Kyriacos Markides, speaking of the words of Metropolitan Athanasius of Limossol in Mountain of Silence.
While we eventually want to have hagiography/ biography recommendations for each Form, some families like to read from a saint's life in their "morning time" rotation, or as part of morning prayers. This page is an attempt to provide resources for that that do not require the purchase of many individual books nor the need to edit on the fly as you read aloud, which is sometimes necessary with resources used by adults.
The texts referred to in this first year of Saints' Lives are from the series Saints for All Ages, originally published by OCPC / OCA. Some of these volumes are available from SVS Press, and many of us on the advisory have found copies in our church libraries or church school supply closets.
